Tokunbo, real name Tokunbo Akinro, started her music career in 1998 as a member of the soul-acoustic band Tok Tok Tok, with whom she released thirteen albums. Her first solo album, "Queendom Come," was released in 2014, followed by album number two, "The Swan," in 2018.
in 2022, the German-rian soul, jazz and pop singer-songwriter, who describes her music as "folk noir" herself, is about to release her third album: On "Golden Days" she brings a little more light into her darkly beautiful sound worlds.
Written during the pand, a full of difficult challenges, she chose the title deliberately: "I wanted to write the album that the world needs right now; an album full of optimism and confidence. An album like a golden autumn day," says Tokunbo.
That she has indeed succeeded in doing so is shown by eleven gentle and warm-hearted songs that take an optimistic look at the world somewhere between folk and jazz, modern singer-songwriter pop and here and there a bit of 70s nostalgia. So, like the single "Forgive", which rds us of togetherness despite all the social distance.
