in 2005, guitarist Tyler Baker and his cousins Landon Milbourn (vocals) and Brandon Qualkenbush (guitar) formed the band Goodbye June as a tribute to Baker's brother, who died in a traffic accident in June of that year.
More than 15 years later, the Nashville trio has made a name for itself on the scene, and it's making it even better known in 2022 with its new album, "See Where The Night Goes," the follow-up to 2019's "Community Inn."
"See Where The Night Goes" is Goodbye June's third album. It was written during the pand, but was also influenced by the destruction wrought by a 2020 tornado in Nashville. Musically, the band, which cites artists such as Rival Sons, The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, Pink Floyd, but also gospel music as its main influences, makes just that audible. And so Goodbye June once again deliver sprawling rock'n'roll here, rooted in Southern blues and offering swig grooves, relentless rhythm and fiery vocals.
They've already provided some evidence of this with the singles "Step Aside," complete with a Western-style music video featuring the musicians as cowboys in a bloody duel with themselves, and the title track. "'See Where The Night Goes' was one of the first songs we wrote for the record. Its energy and momentum set the tone for the rest of the songs. The story, the riffs and the melodies are meant to take the listener into a crazy night in New Orleans," Baker explains.
See Where The Night Goes was produced by five- Grammy nominee Paul Moak. Goodbye June received songwriting support from Scott Stevens (Buckcherry) and Blake Hubbard.
