Jackie: Summer Special is the third entry in the Jackie series of multi-disc compilation albums released in the United Kingdom by EMI. Like its predecessors, Jackie: The Album (2007) and Jackie: The Album, Vol. 2 (2008), Jackie: Summer Special includes three discs filled to the brim with early to mid-'70s pop songs, many of them long forgotten and rag in style from soul-pop (e.g., Diana Ross) to pop/rock (e.g., T. Rex). Perhaps best remembered for its innocence, Jackie was a magazine for teenage girls that was popular during the same era, and all albums in the series of albums so far have been packaged to resemble the magazine. Anyone who grew up reading Jackie is sure to enjoy this blast from the past. While there are plenty of obscurities on Jackie: Summer Special, there are also plenty of certifiable pop classics spread across each of the three discs. Some of the better known songs from disc one include the Jackson 5's "ABC," the Bay City Rollers' "Summerlove Sensation," and ABBA's "Summer Night City." Highlights of the second disc include Elton John and Kiki Dee's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," Boz Scaggs' "Lido Shuffle," and David Bowie's "Drive In Saturday." Highlights of the third disc include Michael Jackson's "Rockin' Robin," KC and the Sunshine Band's "That's the Way (I Like It)," and the Isley Brothers' "Summer Breeze."
